An introduction to my Keynote speech
"The Leader's Ultimatum in an AI Age:
Irrelevance or Ingenuity"
AI has ended the Information Age. What comes next is a leadership and culture choice.
Every organization now faces the same fork. One path is the Irrelevance Age, where speed runs without judgment and data accumulates without meaning. The other is the Ingenuity Age, where human wisdom and machine intelligence amplify one another. Drift defaults to the first; the second has to be chosen.
This keynote, drawn from Katharine McLennan's book of the same name, gives leaders two frameworks to make that choice visible and operational. VISTA is the leadership compass: Vision, Intuition, Synergy, Trust, and Authenticity, together with the shadows that emerge when each one erodes (Void, Inertia, Silos, Tyranny, Apathy). ORG6 is the culture roadmap: Talent, Structure, Operations, CEO Stewardship, Leadership Everywhere, and Engaged Hearts, Minds and Bodies. Together they form a leader's Ingenuity Readiness for the AI Era.
The fingerprint on the cover is a declaration. Each one is distinct, impossible to replicate, evidence that a human has been here. Fingerprints can also fade. When organizations lose sight of what is uniquely human, they become featureless, efficient, and forgettable. This session is about noticing the fade in time to choose differently.
Katharine draws on thirty-five years inside leadership teams, four years leading operational planning for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and her continuous study of neuroscience, philosophy, etymology, and the ancient wisdom traditions that taught us how to see one another long before we built machines that watch us. The session is shaped to the sector, the audience, and the language they use day to day. Every leader leaves with their own Ingenuity Readiness self-assessment and a clear first move.

- Reclaim human wisdom in the AI era — practical ways to centre purpose, values and contextual judgement so AI amplifies (not replaces) what only humans do.
- Partner with AI, wisely — a short Frame → Ask → Check → Choose loop to blend machine insight with human judgement (and know when to override).
- Spot the signs of irrelevance/inertia in leadership and culture—and why they’re a death sentence in the AI age.
- Use Katharine’s VISTA framework to transform the human side of work—turning Void → Vision, Ignorance → Intuition, Silos → Synergy, Tyranny → Trust, Apathy → Authenticity.
- Ignite human ingenuity across strategy, culture, operations, teams—and your own leadership presence.
- Leave with “Monday moves”—2–3 concrete actions (cadence, decision rights, roles/rituals) plus a shared language your team can use immediately.
